How Powerful Are Words?

What words mean to me varies on what you’re saying to me.  If it’s something that will hurt my feelings, I’ll show you it doesn’t offend me.  I know you’re only trying to get to me.  If it’s something nice, I’ll thank you for the compliment.  Sometimes people do not understand how powerful words can be.  A lot of times they speak before thinking about what they’re going to say.  They also say some of the meanest things to loved ones.  How will you know you’re going to see them again and be able to apologize even if you don’t mean to say it?  Also a simple “I Love You” or “How was your day” could also change someone’s day around.  A lot of times you have no idea what someone else is going through.  Asking can inform you of a lot of things you had no idea about.

At school kids think those simple “you’re fat” or “you’re ugly” doesn’t mean anything to them.  You have to stop and think, “What if you were in their shoes and another person was calling you those names?” – or even worse names?  How would you feel about that?  Also a lot of kids don’t turn or talk to anybody and it all builds up inside of them.  What happens if they commit suicide?  And it was because of you, but you didn’t know how they took it?  You’ll never know.  Honestly you probably don’t even care.  That’s what some words mean to me.      AV – 16
